There are days when gratitude comes easily.
It rises without effort—
carried in sunlight, in laughter, in moments that feel light.
And then there are other days.
Days when gratitude feels quieter.
Less like a feeling…
and more like a choice.
A grateful heart is not always loud.
It does not always arrive as joy.
Sometimes, it is simply this—
pausing long enough to notice
that something, however small, is still good.
A warm cup of coffee.
A moment of stillness.
A breath that steadies.
Not everything has to be right
for something to be appreciated.
Gratitude does not ask us to ignore what is hard.
It simply invites us
to hold space for what is still gentle within it.
Today I say thanks to a distant relative—my second cousin; our moms were cousins.
We always have a yearly get-together, just one day for lunch and a quick good-bye.
She comes to visit me, and it is the most fun catch-up time, even though it is short.
It truly does make me wonder about gratitude, and I pray I never take it for granted.
Her visits make me say thank you for reminding me of the full meaning of gratitude—
and to never take it for granted.
A grateful heart does not mean everything is easy—
it means something is still worth noticing.
And sometimes…
that is more than enough.
