Quiet Endurance

🌼My Anywhere But Here Journey

Some days the journey forward is not measured in miles, but in moments of quiet endurance.”

Today, I find myself reflecting on what it means to simply endure quietly.

There are days on this journey when strength feels steady and visible.

And then there are days when strength is much softer — when it asks nothing more of us than to just get through the day.

What is quiet endurance?

Is there really such a thing when we are using all our strength just to show up?

Perhaps that is exactly what quiet endurance is.

The courage it takes to show up — even when energy is low.

Even when motivation feels far away.

We often think of motivation as something bold and productive. Something that pushes us forward with enthusiasm and purpose. But what if, some days, our ability looks like simply sitting quietly and gathering ourselves?

Maybe motivation can still be found there.

Maybe motivation doesn’t always look like productivity.

Some days it looks like resting without guilt.

Protecting our peace.

Getting through the day with gentle intention.

It can be found in small acts of self-care, in allowing ourselves to feel honestly, and in beginning again quietly without announcement.

On the hardest days, motivation may be nothing more than holding onto hope and whispering to ourselves,

“Today is enough.”

And sometimes… that is the strongest motivation of all.

🌸 Permission for gentle days

This weekend, I am giving myself permission — and perhaps you may need it too.

  • Permission to rest
  • Permission to pause
  • Permission to breathe deeply
  • Permission to sit in the sun or sip a comforting cup of tea
  • Quiet encouragement for those struggling silently

We do not always need to push forward with great effort.

Sometimes simply remaining present is its own form of progress.

🌿 Allowing ourselves to feel

When life feels heavy and we want to retreat from the day, who grants us permission for moments like that? Are we really allowed to have days where simply existing feels like enough?

I believe we are.

Motivation can live gently within the soul when life feels overwhelming, when energy is low, and when simply showing up becomes an act of courage. Allowing ourselves to feel can be its own quiet strength:

  • acknowledging fear
  • honoring sadness
  • sitting with uncertainty

Motivation can be the courage to feel honestly and still keep faith.

☕ Caring for ourselves in small ways

Sometimes motivation looks like self-care no one else sees.

Perhaps it is a restful walk.

Or simply sitting with a warm cup of tea.

Bigelow tea has always been my comfort — chamomile with a touch of vanilla and a little honey. Somehow it softens the edges of whatever made me need rest in the first place.

Even opening the curtains to let light in can symbolize motivation.

It can be a beginning again — softly and without announcement.

✨ Holding onto hope

Holding onto hope on low days becomes essential.

Motivation can be believing that this moment will not last forever.

For me, motivation feels very much like faith.

I have never seen God face-to-face, yet I trust He is present — over us and before us — shining light in dark moments and guiding us through overwhelming feelings.

If I can have faith in the unseen, then I can believe that motivation also lives quietly within me… and within all of us.

Sometimes it only needs to be gently awakened.

Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that even when we feel still, something within us is being renewed and carried forward. I have always loved the Footprints poem, where we are reminded that during our hardest moments, we are often being carried.

Perhaps motivation carries us quietly too.

🕊️ Quiet endurance is not weakness

It is a steady strength that does not demand attention.

It is choosing hope without needing to announce it.

It is trusting that slow steps and still moments are still movement.

Sometimes the most meaningful progress we make is unseen by others.

It happens in the heart.

In the breath we take when we would rather sigh.

In the decision to remain present when we wish we could retreat somewhere easier.

And yet… here we are.

Still walking.

Still believing.

Still finding meaning, even on the gentlest of days.

This weekend, if your motivation feels quiet like mine, let that be enough.

Not every journey forward is bold.

Some are simply faithful.

And faithful steps — no matter how small — still carry us onward.

My Anywhere But Here space.

Let us continue this journey together, right here in

My Anywhere But Here space.

Carried forward, even on quiet days.

Susan
