Pausing and Resting

Today’s blog is a brief one.

Right after the title, you will see a picture of a young woman resting quietly. Today, I find myself emulating her.

Not in escape.

Not in withdrawal.

But in intention.

She is still. She is present. She is breathing deeply. And that is what I need today.

After receiving so much information at a doctor’s appointment, I realized my mind could not keep moving forward without first allowing my soul to settle. So while I pause for my own restoration, please know I am not neglecting you.

This space still matters to me. You still matter to me.

Today’s entry is not a full reflection, but rather an honest expression of my need to pause. I am choosing to step back, breathe, and allow my soul to catch up with all that has been given to process.

Before we move further, I wanted to share a familiar and comforting scripture that speaks to the universal need for rest:

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul.”

— Psalm 23:2–3

Benefit:

This beloved passage reminds us that true rest is not simply the absence of movement — it is the restoration of the soul. In stillness, we are renewed. In quiet, we are gently led back to peace. Many, regardless of faith tradition, can relate to the deep human need to be restored — to be guided toward calm waters and find a moment where the soul can breathe again.

Take one day away,

just one —

to gently separate

the past from the future.

— Maya Angelou

Let peace grow in the pause.

Let striving grow quiet

so listening can begin.

For in the resting,

restoration finds us.

Remember…

Pausing is not quitting.

It is simply breathing again.
