I think it is funny how so many people wish they were anywhere but here. I have been giving this a lot of thought any more now that my life has taken a drastically radical change due in part to my health ordeal with Cancer. Being told that you only have said amount of years to enjoy life due to a rapidly progressive form of Metastatic Breast cancer, when you already have an Autoimmune disease that takes years off of your life already because your stage four in your disease, to then learn your also stage four in your new cancer journey, 5 years cancer free from the Breast cancer of back when to now.
When I look back on the definition of When, it states:
when (adverb, conjunction, pronoun)
1. At what time – When will you arrive?
2. At the time that – I remember when we first met.
3. During the time in which – There are times when patience is required.
4. In the event that; if – Call me when you need help.
5. At which time – The moment when everything changed.
In short, “when” refers to a time, moment, or condition in which something happens.
But really? Why do people wish to be Anywhere for the most part; “Elsewhere.” Anywhere but where their living right now. Is it dissatisfaction; or is it to fulfill their unspoken dreams and desires; or perhaps, even to some unanswered prayers for a non stressful life? When did we start this?
For me; my when started because, I wished it in order to imagine a world without cancer medication, that being the first thing I do when my feet hit the floor in the morning and it is at the forefront of everything. It’s not having to figure out what my day will be like. Is today the day the nausea takes hold, or the day my shoulders and arm fail to be silent in there reminding me; I live continually in pain and well sometimes, to phrase it harsh, my suffering.
This blog is so we can focus on the belief that there really is a place that we can call “My Anywhere But Here.” It does exist and can exist and does not mean we have drifted from reality or real life, but rather we choose to figure things out on our own in our own time and space, or our “when,” or “Anywhere But Here” place. A place that seeks to carry us through our long hard days that we call living and life.
Secondly, let me say this: as a Christian, I think sometimes God has created our minds to hold a place such as “My Anywhere but Here” realm. Where we can go, to find peace, reassurances, certainties; above all, just a place where peace exists always in this realm. Whether you seek your peace through God or an inward peace such as Buddhist who seek to find it through mindfulness and meditation, or like Hindu’s who say it comes from self realization, or Taoism who states peace comes from inner balance or flow, or my own Christianity where we believe peace can be found through faith in the Prince of Peace, Christ, who was also God incarnate, now our Heavenly Father.
Whatever your beliefs, this blog hopes to motivate one to create within them a space/realm where you can travel to “My Anywhere but Here.”
Come journey with me and I promise you we’ll get through every day to where, as we turn out the lights on another day, or close the chapter for today, or just put our life on pause—however you end your day—you can say, ok, I lived another day and can pursue tomorrow with as much effort as it took myself to pursue today.
Let us find our own individual peace together. Come run away for a moment and journey to “My Anywhere but here”.
